Item Identified Gaps and Recommendations for North St Paul(Resilient Communities Project (RCP), University of Minnesota, 2013) Students enrolled in SW 8251This project was completed as part of the 2013-2014 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of North St. Paul. To provide safe environments for seniors to age in their homes, the City of North St. Paul wanted to assess existing gaps in services. Project lead Jon Fure worked with students in SW 8251: Social Work Practice in Health, Disabilities, and Aging, taught by Stacy Remke. The students conducted aging-specific in-home assessments with North St. Paul residents and their caregivers that included their housing situation, resource management, formal and informal support systems, mental health, and cognitive abilities. Students then identified gaps in services and made recommendations for what the city can do to address these gaps, either directly or in partnership with other organizations or agencies. The final report, poster, and resource list are available.
