Item Muscle contractility and calcium signaling gene expression following loss of ER𝛼 signaling in male mice(2023) Stein, Clara Z; Sullivan, Brian P; McMillin, Shawna L; Lowe, Dawn AMuscle contraction is vital for survival, allowing the body to move and organs to to function properly. Our lab has previously shown that the loss of the sex hormone, estrogen, impairs muscle function in female mice (Collins et al., 2018). Evidence indicates that the estradiol signaling through the estrogen receptor alpha (ER𝛼) is important for optimal muscle contractility. However, the effect of the loss of estrogen-ER𝛼 signaling in male skeletal muscle in is unknown.
