Item Emotion Regulation and Parenting Database Search Strategy(N/A, 2020) Palmer, Alyssa RFollowing an increased interest in studying emotions and emotion regulation, there has been a recent proliferation of research on the role of emotion regulation in parenting. Emerging evidence from various fields suggests that emotion regulation is critical for developing and maintaining positive parenting practices as well as mitigating negative or maladaptive parenting behaviors. This positioning in historical time presents an ideal moment to take stock in the current findings with the goal of orienting future empirical work. A systematic search, using PRISMA guidelines, was conducted to evaluate empirical research on the relationship between parent emotion regulation and parenting.
