A Snapshot of Six Academic Library Institutions’ Data Repository and Curation Services(Journal of eScience Librarianship, 2017-02-28) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire; Hswe, PatriciaObjective: Many academic and research institutions are exploring opportunities to better support researchers in sharing their data. As partners in the Data Curation Network project, our six institutions developed a comparison of the current levels of support provided for researchers to meet their data sharing goals through library-based data repository and curation services. Methods: Each institutional lead provided a written summary of their services based on a previously developed structure, followed by group discussion and refinement of descriptions. Service areas assessed include the repository services for data, technologies used, policies, and staffing in place. Conclusions: Through this process we aim to better define the current levels of support offered by our institutions as a first step toward meeting our project's overarching goal to develop a shared staffing model for data curation across multiple institutions.Item Data Curation Perception and Practice(2017-05-24) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, ClaireItem Data Curation Services, Together!(2018-11-08) Johnston, Lisa; Blake, Mara; Carlson, Jake; Coburn, Liza; Herndon, Joel; Hull, Elizabeth; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; McGeary, Timothy M; Stewart, ClaireItem DCN Team Kick-off Meeting outputs: Vision, Barriers, Metrics, and Strategic Directions(2016-07) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, ClaireItem Definitions of Data Curation Activities used by the Data Curation Network(2016-10) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, ClaireItem Grant Narrative for the Data Curation Network project(2016-05) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, ClaireItem Grants are Temporary but Data Stewardship is Not: Sustainability of the Data Curation Network(2021-03-15) Imker, Heidi; Johnston, Lisa RThe Data Curation Network and sustainability modeling are both topics that have generated significant interest in the information science community. We anticipate that attendees may have questions about either, and we welcome the opportunity to answer them directly. While our sustainability plan is relatively robust (URL provided below), there are also still details that we (the DCN leaders) have not entirely worked out (e.g. some details concerning the additional tiers of membership). This factors into our sustainability modeling, and we would appreciate the opportunity to hear reactions directly from attendees about what we are currently proposing.Item Implementing a Cross-Institutional Staffing Model for Curating Research Data(2018-03) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire; Blake, Mara; Herndon, Joel; Hull, Elizabeth; McGeary, TimItem Implementing a Cross-Institutional Staffing Model for Curating Research Data - CS3DP 2018(2018-02) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire; Blake, Mara; Herndon, Joel; Hull, Elizabeth; McGeary, TimItem Institutional data repositories are vital(Science, 2024-09) Darragh, Jen; Narlock, Mikala R.; Burns, Halle; Cerda, Peter A.; Cowles, Wind; Delserone, Leslie; Erickson, Seth; Herndon, Joel; Imker, Heidi; Johnston, Lisa R.; Lake, Sherry; Lenard, Michael; Hofelich Mohr, Alicia; Moore, Jennifer; Petters, Jonathan; Pullen, Brandie; Taylor, Shawna; Wham, BrianaAs funding agencies and publishers reiterate research data sharing expectations, many higher-education institutions have demonstrated their commitment to the long-term stewardship of research data by connecting researchers to local infrastructure, with dedicated staffing, that eases the burden of data sharing. Institutional repositories are an example of this investment. They provide support for researchers in sharing data that might otherwise be lost: data without a disciplinary repository, data from projects with limited funding, or data that are too large to sustainably store elsewhere. The staffing and technical infrastructure provided by institutional repositories ensures responsible access to information while considering long-term preservation and alignment with international standards. To ensure continued access to invaluable research data, it is essential that publishers and funding agencies recognize institutional repositories as responsible and reliable data sharing solutions.Item Launching the Data Curation Network(2018-03-22) Johnston, Lisa; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire; Blake, Mara; Herndon, Joel; Hull, Elizabeth; McGeary, Timothy MItem Launching the Data Curation Network(2018-02-20) Johnston, Lisa; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire; Blake, Mara; Herndon, Joel; Hull, Elizabeth; McGeary, Timothy MItem Planning the Data Curation Network: DLF Forum 2016(2016-11-08) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, ClaireItem Planning the Data Curation Network: PresQT 2017(2017-05-01) Johnston, Lisa R; Carlson, Jake; Hudson-Vitale, Cynthia; Imker, Heidi; Kozlowski, Wendy; Olendorf, Robert; Stewart, Claire
