Item Data for Impacts of beaver dams on low-flow hydrology and hydraulics, Knife River, Minnesota(2021-06-07) Gran, Karen B; Behar, Hannah; Burgeson, Emma; Dymond, Salli; Dumke, Josh; Teasley, Rebecca; kgran@d.umn.edu; Gran, Karen BThese data were collected as part of a two-year investigation into the impacts of beaver dam removal on low-flow hydrology and hydraulics in the Knife River, Minnesota, USA. Eight sub-basins were monitored for two years, organized as four pairs of sub-basins. The study focused on small headwater sub-basins, with areas ranging from 1.58 to 6.4 km2. In 2018, all of the study basins had active beaver dams. In 2019, the beavers were removed and dams notched in half of the sub-basins, one half of each of the four pairs. Data collection continued throughout the 2019 season measuring impacts post-dam removal.Item An Experimental Study of Drainage Network Development by Surface and Subsurface Flow in Low-Gradient Landscapes Raster Datasets(2021-09-28) Sockness, Brian G; Gran, Karen B; kgran@d.umn.edu; Gran, Karen B; University of Minnesota - Duluth Earth and Environmental Sciences DepartmentThe data include raster format elevation measurements and other derived parameters captured from small-scale drainage network development experiments conducted at the University of Minnesota - Duluth. Elevation data were captured as point elevation measurements using a terrestrial lidar unit and converted to raster format digital elevation models at four millimeter resolution via interpolation. The digital elevation models are provided here as 1.) ArcGIS Map Package, 2.) TIFF files, and 3.) JPEG images.Item Greater Blue Earth River Basin Sediment Budget Shapefiles(2017-01-21) Bevis, Martin A; Gran, Karen B; bevisma@gmail.com; Bevis, Martin AThese are the extents of landforms used in the construction of suspended sediment budgets for the LeSueur, Blue Earth and Watonwan Rivers. The extents of bluffs, ravines, lakes, and subwatersheds in 2010 are included, as well as riverbanks from 2008 and 1938.
