    Reducing Recidivism Through Work

    This project was completed as part of the 2015-2016 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with Carver County. Criminal offenders often have difficulty finding meaningful and gainful employment when released from prison. The goal of this project was to reduce recidivism by identifying strategies to help offenders find purposeful work opportunities. Project lead Rod Franks worked with a team of students in OLPOD 5204: Designing the Adult Education Program, to develop a set of recommendations for the County and local businesses, including employing case managers and trained volunteers, building relationships with selected employers, facilitating job clubs, and providing job skills training. The students' final report and presentation are available.
