This is primarily targeted towards data stewards, but can be used by any and all when instructing on geospatial data curation. Includes modules for ease of use. Copies of files are also available in GitHub [https://github.com/DataCurationNetwork/curation-curriculum/tree/main/Specialized%20Data%20Types], which represent the dynamic versions of the curriculum that might be updated and revised as the curriculum is iterated upon.Item Sustaining Open Research: Funding Agencies and the Desirable Characteristics: Background and U.S. DOT Implementation(Data Curation Network, 2023) Christiansen, Leighton L.Leighton Christiansen, Data Curator at the National Transportation Library (NTL), also serves as a U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) representative to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Subcommittee on Open Science (SOS). In that role, Leighton was one of the nearly 50 federal employees who co-authored the “Desirable Characteristics.” Leighton will give a brief overview on the creation of the “Desirable Characteristics” and then turn to how it will be used at DOT and with contracted researchers to inform research data preservation practices. This was presented as part of the Data Curation Network's Repository Readiness Virtual Learning Series, Summer 2023.
