In 2011, Carver County completed a traffic study of the intersection of CSAH 10 and State Highway 41. This intersection is adjacent to a campus that includes three schools and the Chaska Community Center. The goal of this project was to develop recommendations to provide safer bicycle and pedestrian routes to the schools and community center from surrounding residential neighborhoods. Project lead Bill Monk from the City of Chaska collaborated with four groups of students in CEGE 3201: Introduction to Transportation Engineering, to develop a set of recommendations, which included installing raised crosswalks, developing a new school bus corral, and altering bus and automobile routes within the campus. The students' aggregated final report is available.
