Description

The campaigns for Mayor and City Council in Minneapolis have focused almost entirely on progressive policies and issues, and have been critiqued as forcing voters to choose between "left and farther left." Are we missing an opportunity to fully explore the range of policy approaches to taxes, employment, and quality of life issues that could help Minneapolis to thrive? A panel of prominent observers from Minneapolis and the surrounding Metro area will address these timely questions. This event will be moderated by Larry Jacobs. Panelists Peter Callaghan is a staff writer for MinnPost and covers local politics and government in the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Twin Cities region. Steve Cramer is the President and CEO of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and Downtown Improvement District. He was a Minneapolis City Council member from 1984 to 1993. Annette Meeks is founder and CEO of the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota, an independent, non-profit, education and research organization that develops and actively advocates the principles of individual freedom, personal responsibility, economic freedom, and limited government. D.J. Tice is the commentary editor, a weekly columnist and a regular contributor to the Playing Politics podcast at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
