Senate Facilitative Committee:
The Senate Facilitative Committee, consisting of the chairs of several key Senate committees, was first constituted in the mid-1970s by the Senate Consultative Committee to expedite Senate business. Each year, the chair of the Senate Consultative Committee convened the Facilitative Committee occasionally, “according to how useful the chair believed such opportunities for exchange would be, given the issues at hand” (October 21, 1981, memo to the Facilitative Committee).
