Abstract
Solar energy — most people would associate it with the wealthy or people who are
particularly concerned with the environment. So when they hear the term low-income
solar power, they balk at the idea, thinking “what business do low-income families have
with solar power?” But after extensive research and interviews with experts and
stakeholders in the industry, it is evident that low-income solar is not just about
increasing the accessibility of renewable energy; it is part of a broader solution to
achieving environmental justice and economic equity in the United States.
