It is part of a broad scale goal by the Minnesota Geological Survey to map in detail the geology of Minnesota’s north shore. While the shoreline quads are mostly completed, this is one of the first inland sections to be mapped at a detailed scale. The 347 outcrops were accessed by either using an all terrain vehicle on the trails or traversing areas in the bush by foot. Statewide 1 meter LiDAR elevation maps were used as a tool to search for outcrop while in the bush.enPrecambrian Research CenterUniversity of Minnesota Duluth2014 Precambrian Field CampBedrock Geology Map of the Granophyre Transition Zone into the North Shore Volcanic Group, Cook County, MinnesotaMap
