The Committee was appointed by the Senate Consultative Committee in consultation with the President, those who proposed the resolution, and some Senate and faculty members. [The Committee's] creation is a recognition of the fact that the University is entering perilous times and that difficult, far-reaching and perhaps irrevocable decisions affecting its future have to be made. The need for these decisions to be based on academic priorities, to be informed by full and appropriate consultation and to conduce to the academic integrity of the University has been the rationale for this committee's existence, the tenor of its activity and is the leitmotiv of this report."en-USAdministrative Document
