Terra Soma2024-06-142024-06-142023-07https://hdl.handle.net/11299/263921Non-licensee Kernza® stakeholders contribute to the development of the Kernza supply chain in significant ways, and are interested in finding a mechanism for strategic collaboration to support the growth of the industry as a consortium. Consultant Terra Soma guided a research-informed planning process to support the development of a Kernza Non-Licensee Consortium, which would communicate among and connect relevant stakeholders; catalog, store, and share resources; advocate and engage with governmental agencies, funders, and research entities; develop the Kernza® market and agronomics; and prioritize and track ecosystem services. Terra Soma conducted a desk audit of select operating models to enable relevant stakeholder decision-making on the need for and potential organizational model. This research findings memo includes an overview of the research method, case studies, and recommendations for stakeholders to consider. While no single model included all the desired features identified by Kernza non-licensee stakeholders, select cases and elements from multiple consortia can inform the next phase of decision-making.
