Tim Walz is the 41st Governor of Minnesota, elected in 2018. Walz served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives serving Minnesota's First Congressional District. In Congress, Walz served on the Agriculture Committee, Armed Services Committee and Veterans' Affairs Committee. Walz also served on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. Before his election to Congress, Walz spent 24 years in the Army National Guard and was a teacher and coach at Mankato West High School. Pat Kessler has been covering Minnesota politics for more than 30 years. In 2015, he was honored for lifetime achievement in broadcasting by the Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
