A collaborative effort between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the University of Minnesota.Dye tracing was conducted on the upper reaches of Sullivan Creek in the fall of 2009. Sullivan Creek lies southwest of Hokah, MN in Houston County. Prior to this investigation, no known tracing had been done in this area. This trace was specifically designed to begin springshed mapping in this watershed. Previous GIS and field reconnaissance had identified two sinking points in a headwater tributary of Sullivan Creek. Based on the available bedrock mapping and on field observations, my initial assumption was that the sinking points were in the Cambrian St. Lawrence Formation. Subsequent office and fieldwork by Tony Runkel of the Minnesota Geological Survey confirmed that interpretation.enReport
