Jacobs, Lawrence R2021-01-092021-01-092012-09-17https://hdl.handle.net/11299/217688The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance will sponsor the first of our 2012 candidate forums with Kurt Bills, the Republican candidate for Minnesota's U.S. Senate seat. Rep. Bills will focus on his views of the 6 deficits facing America: budget, jobs, trade, savings, liberty and leadership. Candidate forums foster informed and substantive discussion of important matters of public policy. The forums create an opportunity for the candidates to rise above the talking points and fractious back-and-forth of the campaign to address the important policy challenges facing Minnesota and the country. Kurt Bills is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and the GOP-endorsed Minnesota candidate for U.S. Senate. Bills attended Winona State University, earning a B.S. in secondary social studies education, a B.A. in US history, and an M.A. in education. Since 1996, Bills has taught economics, government and politics courses at Rosemount High School. In 2008, Bills was elected to the Rosemount City Council. In 2010, Bills was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives, where he serves on the Capital Investment, Education Finance and Taxes House Committees.en2012 Senate Candidate Forum with Rep.
