Currently, the City of Maplewood has documented 43 single-family homes that are vacant and that have nuisance conditions, regular city code violations, and are a blight on the neighborhood. The City is considering creating a single-family home acquisition, rehabilitation, and resale program targeted at such properties to provide affordable owner-occupied housing. City of Maplewood Community Development Director Jeff Thomson worked with a team of students in Robin Phinney's PA 8081 master of public affairs capstone to research similar programs in peer cities, and interview local organizations or agencies that could partner with the city on implementing such a program. The students' final report and presentation are available.enresiliencelocal governmentResilient Communities Project, 2021-2022housing rehabilitationaffordable housingSingle-Family Housing Rehabilitation Program in Maplewood, MNPresentation
