A thorough description of the quantity and quality of injuries at agribusiness retailers reveals that injuries are relatively frequent compared to U.S. private industry. Models are estimated to describe individual-level safety climate, business location-level safety outcomes, and firm-level safety efficiency. Strong safety system elements are empirically linked to strong safety climate and managerial safety climate is identified as a key determinant of safety outcomes such as injury frequency and severity. Safety efficiency varies across firms, a finding that warrants future attention.enThesis or Dissertation
