Long-term supports and services for persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities: Status and trends through 2020. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota, Research and Training Center on Community Living, Institute on Community Integration.https://hdl.handle.net/11299/269911Nearly three-quarters of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) who receive publicly funded support live at home with family members or in their own homes, this report from the Residential Information Systems Project (RISP) shows. This represents a dramatic shift over several decades away from institutional living for people with IDD. The new report includes data through the end of June 2020, noting a sharp increase in death rates among people with IDD, particularly those living in institutions, during the earliest months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers use the full report to provide context for their peer-reviewed and professional articles and by policymakers and advocates to inform national and state policy. Digital copies of the report are available at https://risp.umn.edu/.
