Emerging evidence from various fields suggests that emotion regulation is critical for developing and maintaining positive parenting practices as well as mitigating negative or maladaptive parenting behaviors. This positioning in historical time presents an ideal moment to take stock in the current findings with the goal of orienting future empirical work.
