Young, Emma R2020-05-202020-05-202020https://hdl.handle.net/11299/213768My research focused on finding an effective combination of fly ash and waste glass to mix with portland cement to help mitigate ASR in concrete. To do this, I began the semester conducting preliminary research. This included creating a mix design spreadsheet that would allow me to calculate the required amount of each material for each batch of concrete. On week 8, I used the mix design spreadsheet to execute a trial batch of one of the mixes. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 I was unable record any data from the trial mix, and did not conduct any of the other mixes that were planned. Since this project was unable to be completed to its entirety, there is an opportunity for it to be continued by another researcher. The utilization of ground waste glass in combination with fly ash is a very promising solution, and should still be investigated.enUniversity of Minnesota DuluthUndergraduate Research Opportunities ProgramSwenson College of Science and EngineeringUtilizing Waste Materials to Improve the Durability of ConcreteScholarly Text or Essay
