The intake roof structure as originally designed and constructed was damaged. As a result the Harza Engineering Company, also of Chicago, which acted as consultant on the hydraulic design of the structure, commissioned the St. Anthony Falls Hydraulic Laboratory to conduct a model study of the redesigned roof structure.
