This allowed for much easier hand calculations to verify results from SAP2000. The simplest model will utilize linear, elastic beam elements to represent sections of the monument along its height. The overall objective of this project is to investigate the possibility of damage to the Washington Monument caused by the magnitude 5.8 Mineral, Virginia earthquake using SAP2000 to create finite element analysis models.en-USCollege of Science and EngineeringThe Effect of the Virginia Earthquake on the Washington MonumentPresentation
