SchneiderMinnesota’s state parks are part of an important nature-based tourism industry that generates $16 billion dollars annually and provides significant recreation and social opportunities. Anthropogenic climate change will alter conditions for nature-based tourism and recreation. A Tourism Climate Index (TCI; Mieckowski 1985) was developed to assess climate-related conditions (ie., temperature, wind) in relation to tourism suitability. Combined with estimates of how climate conditions will change, future tourism conditions can be assessed. The purpose of this study was to assess tourism visitation conditions to inform visitation projections.enUsing a Modified Tourism Climate Index to Assess Minnesota State Park Visitation ConditionsPresentation
