Part of that high quality of life has been an abundance of natural resources that have provided jobs and leisure activities for residents and drawn visitors to the state for both as well. Those natural endowments are the state’s famous high quality lakes, rivers, forests, plains and prairies. With Northeast Minnesota serving as the demarcation of the primary forested eco-region of the state, the Itasca Area serves as a regional center for many resource-based activities, including tourism and business travel.
