A field trip is designed to introduce the Paleozoic bedrock aquifers of southeastern Minnesota. These aquifers provide the base flow for the rivers and streams in the area. "This field trip will focus on the heterogeneities in the routes that water uses as it moves from recharge areas to discharge areas though the Paleozoic aquifers. We will look at a variety of conduits, pipes, high transmissivity zones and other ground-water flow paths. We will see porosity that ranges from the resolution of our vision to voids that houses could be built in."
