The purpose of the Cloquet Forest in its early years was to 1.) provide a demonstration area where the feasibility of intensive forestry could be shown, 2.) to provide an area where various experiments in forestry practice could be carried out, and 3.) provide a place of recreation for people of the community through which correct information on forestry may be disseminated. The management plan provides site-specific information on these efforts.
