Parlin Recessional St. Anthony Brass Quintet Russell A. Anderson Chief Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court Russell Anderson is a 1964 graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, and a 1968 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. Before being appointed by Governor Pawlenty in January 2006 as Chief Justice ofthe Minnesota Supreme Court, he served as an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, having been appointed by Governor Arne Carlson in 1998. He was a district court judge for the Ninth Judicial District from 1982 to 1998, chambered in Crookston, and previous to that, he was in private practice and also served as Beltrami County Attorney from 1978 to 1982. He also served in the JAG Corps, U.S. Navy. He has served on various committees, including Committee on Rules of Criminal Procedure, Sentencing Guidelines Commission, Supreme Court Technology Committee, Judicial Education Advisory Committee, Gender Fairness Implementation Committee and the Implementation Committee on Multicultural Diversity and Race Fairness in the Courts. Class of2006 hopes to encourage an increasing sense of community in the law school. Mindful that many of these relationships were formed outside the classroom, we have decided to devote our class gift to the improvement of the community space at Mondale Hall. Specifically, our class gift will help update and refurbish the Rottschaefer Lounge. We hope to make it a place where furture classes can escape the rigors of class and get to know each other better over a game of pool, a movie, or a cup of coffee in a comfortable and inviting setting.
