Voted that the contracts between E. W. Davis and the University of Minnesota covering patents per- fected by Mr. Davis a t the Mines Experiment Station be referred to the President of the Board and the President oi the University for approval with power and that the said contracts when so approved be exe- cuted by the President and the Secretary oi the Board of Regents. Voted to approve the placing of the iollowing plate upon such ore washers as are manuiactured under the direction of Mr. Davis of the Mines Experiment Sta- tion: "Davis Patent Ore Washer Designed and Per- fected a t the fiines Experiment Station oi the Uni- versity oi Minnesota." Voted to approve the employment oi the follow- ing persons who are wives of members of the staff: Mrs. C. 0. Rost and Mrs. Edtla Kernkamp for clinical work at the regular rates on temporary appointments. Mrs. Percy C. Glidden as Matron for Swimming Class in the Extension Division beginning February 17, 1921, for 16 weeks at $15 to be derived from fees. R report of the Boys' and Girls' Club extension work in Agriculture and Home Economics was re- ceived and placed on file in the President's office. Voted to approve the request that "Chemistry oi Plant Life" by R. W. Thatcher be used in Agri- cultural Biochemistry. Voted to approve the rental of the Schmelz Farm, adjoining the Central Experiment Station, oi ap- proxin~ately nineteen acres a t not to exceed $10 per acre. Voted that it is the policy of the University not to employ more than one member of a family without the specific approval of the Board of Regents. This policy applies to temporary as well as permanetlt appointments. Voted to approve the transfer of University securi- ties, as requested by the State Treasurer, to the new vault prepared in the State Treasurer's office in the Capitol. Voted that the State Treasurer be requested to .continue the present safeguards in handling the securities. Voted to increase the Shevlin Hall fee irom 50 cents to $I per quarter beginning with the 1921 Summer Session. President Coffman reported on the work of the Survey Commission to date and also made a detailed report on the number of courses now given at the University. Voted to accept with thanks the Fourth Scholar- ship of $150 offered by the College Women's Club of Minneapolis and the giit of a $200 loan fund by the same club. Voted to accept with thanks the giit of a Permutit Zeolite Water Softener irom the Permutit Company of New York City to the School of Chemistry. Voted to accept with thanks the gift oi $200 irom Mr. Frank Steiner to the School of Medicine for breast feeding research in the Department oi Pediatrics. Voted to approve the payment of expenses oi $9.80 to Dr. Frank M. Anderson, of Hanover, New Hampshire, as representative of this University at the inauguration of President Atwood of Clark University.
