Abstract
The investigation reported herein was undertaken in order to obtain some experimental infomation on the physical processes producing temperature
and velocity distribution when heated water is discharged from a channel into
a wide and deep tank. The outlet channel was built with a rectangular cross
section. The receiving tank also had a rectangular cross section, but its
depth and width were more than ten times larger than those of the channel.
The facility was provided with instrumentation to measure temperature and
velocity in a three-dimensional stratified flow.
