Description
The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have placed a burden on all
the U.S. military services, most notably the Army’s 500,000
troops. Almost 140,000 U.S. military personnel are in Iraq,
with more than 15,000 in Afghanistan and 30,000 in Kuwait.
Many of the remaining U.S. troops are committed to service
in Germany and South Korea as well as to peacekeeping
operations in the Balkans.
