Abstract

The idea that the swimming statistics of microalgae can be monitored by their accumulation of lipids and growth health is becoming a strong topic of research. Since the production of large scale biofuels can be very expensive, it is crucial to understand the life cycle of the organisms. One characteristic that has been discovered is the inverse relationship between algal swimming velocity and their content of fatty acids. By studying these statistics, the ability to monitor Dunaliella from their velocity will become a much more viable way to progress and perfect biodiesel production.
