Abstract

Leadership in the STEM profession points to a critical need for the graduates' ability to operate in more diverse settings, with cross-cultural compentence for maintaining competitiveness. The Accreditation Boaards for various STEM programs underscore an expectation of a curriculum in which students gain the ability to understand the global, economic, environmental, and societal context in science and engineering practice. How do we ensure such compliance and outcomes? Professor Kumpaty will provide guidance on experiences that enhance wholesome STEM education from his many years of teaching and research involving undergraduate students. He will include several examples of research experiences in applications of additive manufacturing and culminating senior design experiences of undergraduate students to showcase the importance of a well-rounded education to meet the needs of STEM workforce development.
