Abstract

This study is an empirical investigation of federal campaign contributions as a particular type of corporate power investment and the market structure variables. which ap·pear amenable to this type of power investment. The structural variables included in the multiple regression were market share as a measure of horizontal dominance, assets as a measure of absolute size, and collusive activities as a measure of the exercise of market power. As expected, horizontal dominance was the best predictor of investment in campaign contributions as a fonn of corporate power investment.,
