Abstract

Welcome to Public Health Moment from the University of Minnesota. Drinking several cups of coffee each day may lower your risk of type 2 diabetes. The finding comes from an 11-year study of more than 28,000 postmenopausal women. University of Minnesota epidemiologist Mark Pereira was the study’s lead researcher. <clip: “ Pereira says other studies have shown similar benefits for men and other ethnic groups. But the key ingredient likely is not caffeine. He says that women who drank decaffeinated coffee had even lower risk. <clip: “ Still Pereira doesn’t recommend increased coffee intake to lower one’s risk.
