Abstract

With minimal research being conducted on the observations of combat veterans transitioning to college (Jones, 2016) one UMD student gives their perspective on common barriers and issues they have experienced after turning in their combat boots in Iraq for textbooks at UMD. From being blown up by a roadside bomb in Iraq, to now helping fellow veterans in his community, this student is attempting to bridge the gap of understanding between students and the combat veteran they share a classroom with.
