Description
Starting next year, the leading edge of the age wave will begin to turn 65. Despite the likelihood of needing long-term care, most individuals are ill-prepared for these potential costs and retirement savings are typically inadequate. The state also remains unprepared for the financial challenge this demographic change will present, leaving state programs such as Medicaid to the brink of collapse at a time when state budgets are already strained. While we have made progress at the federal level with the passage of the CLASS Act, the positive impact of that program remains at least five to seven years in the future. In Minnesota, we must continue to push the issue forward.
