Abstract
Description
Faculty Advisor: Prof. Jeffrey Yost
Cybersecurity, or computer security, is a field that has existed for decades. As the use of computers became commonplace in the 1980s, the need for cybersecurity became evident. Protecting computers from external threats used to be done with physical security, but cybersecurity is essential for addressing digital threats. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) plays a huge role in the development of cyberthreats and the development of security solutions. Seeing how AI made an early impact in the development of intrusion detection with IDES & NIDES, it is expected to have an even larger role in the future of cybersecurity with current-day LLMs and the emergence of quantum computing.
