Abstract
In my 3,987-word review essay "My UMD Course Literacy, Technology, and Society, and Walter J. Ong's Thought," I discuss the thought of the American Jesuit scholar Walter J. Ong (1912-2003; Ph.D. in english, Harvard University, 1955) of Saint Louis University, the Jesuit university in the City of St. Louis, Missouri (USA), where, over the years, I took five courses from him. I also discuss my highly productive years of teaching at the University of Minnesota Duluth (September 1987 to May 2009). In addition, I discuss the introductory-level reading-intensive survey course Literacy, Technology, and Society that I originated at UMD -- which is still offered at UMD. In "Appendix One," I present the syllabus of my course Literacy, Technology, and Society. In "Appendix Two," i present the final exam in my course Literacy, Technology, and Society.
