Description

In response to growing interest from faculty, academic leaders, and the University Senate, the University of Minnesota established the Presidential Work Groups on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education, Research, and Operations in December 2024. Charged by the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations, and the Vice President for Research and Innovation, these work groups were tasked with evaluating how AI can be ethically and effectively integrated across the University’s core missions. This report reflects the work of the Research Work Group and is the result of multiple months of discussion, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with national trends and institutional priorities.
