Description

As AI becomes increasingly prevalent, the University must proactively balance its potential for greater efficiency and cost savings with responsible, ethical practices. This requires a structured approach to address legal, compliance, data privacy, and potential impacts on our workforce. To navigate this evolving landscape, the AI Task Force was charged with developing recommendations for AI use in education, research, and operations. Specific charges include benchmarking peer institutions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, proposing necessary resources and policy changes, and considering stakeholder well-being, all while upholding academic integrity and ethical standards. This report was developed by the Administrative Operations Working Group to address the adoption of AI for various administrative functions across the University of Minnesota.
