Abstract

These data describe survival of Least Flycatcher (Empidonax minimus) nests from discovery until either failure or fledging in seven forest stands in Northeastern Minnesota, USA, from May-July 1996. The data are formatted for analysis using the nest survival software MCestimate (https://www.epa.gov/chemical-research/markov-chain-nest-productivity-model-estimating-tool). They are being published now to support the manuscript "Least Flycatcher Nest Success Increases at Sites with Extensive Northern Hardwood Cover at the Landscape Scale" which is forthcoming (2026) in the Journal of Field Ornithology.

Description

The file provides detailed information on serial survival documented during visits to Least Flycatcher nests. Detailed description of all fields in the file can be found in the associated read_me file "Readme_EttersonEtAl.2026.txt"
