Abstract
Ruts from field traffic can cause long-lasting soil compaction and yield loss. This fact sheet outlines best practices for repairing ruts, limiting traffic in wet conditions, controlled traffic, and using cover crops to restore soil structure. However, prevention is more effective than repairing it, as impacts on yield and soil health can persist for years and lead to significant economic losses.
