Abstract
This dataset supports the technical report, "Minnesota Carp Management Effectiveness Assessment-A technical report on statewide carp management as a lake restoration strategy", prepared for the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District from April 2024 through July 2025. The research team (University of Minnesota researchers and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District staff co-authors here) collected carp biomass estimates and removal data from carp management projects conducted by local management organizations. Water quality data was provided by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS) and supplemented using the LAGOS-NE Research Platform. Aquatic plant point-intercept survey data were obtained from the Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center (MAISRC) PI Charter App database. Carp management metrics were derived by the research team.
Description
The data files include all carp management, water quality, aquatic plant, lake and watershed characteristics, and lake management variables (columns) derived to the lake year level (rows) and all the code used to input, clean, and harmonize raw data; join intermediate data products; evaluate and visual pre/post change with management; and evaluate and visualize the relationships between carp management, carp biomass, and lake response variables.
