This pamphlet was created to inform patients about how sunlight interacts with their bodies. It defines what sunlight is and how the ultraviolet radiation that is a part of sunlight affects skin. A discussion about sunburn and suntan is undertaken and an outline of how sunlight can act in a harmful way is included. Lastly steps to protect oneself from sunlight is outlined that take into consideration the latest scientific research. Essentially avoidance combined with barrier methods such has broad brimmed hats supplemented with broad spectrum sunscreen is the best way to prevent the harmful effects of sunlight.
