We study the fractal and Hausforff dimensions of the universal attractor for the Navier-Stokes equations in two space dimensions. The finite dimensionality of the attractors for the Navier-Stokes equation was first implicitly proven in  and explicitely in . The subject has been investigated recently by several authors.
