Historical note regarding the UMD Office of Affirmative Action: The Office of Affirmative Action at UMD was created in 1988. In 1995, the name changed to the Office of Equal Opportunity. The campus directory for 2011-12 lists both the Office of Equal Opportunity and the Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity, but by the following year (2012-13) only the Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity is listed. It retained this name through at least 2016, but by 2019 it had become the Department of Human Resources. Equal opportunity and affirmative action issues seem to have been transferred by 2019 to the system-wide Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action office based on the Twin Cities campus.
