Richard F. Green writes: I am a statistician who did some work on extreme value theory and outlier-proneness, but most of my work involves mathematical and statistical models in biology, particularly animal behavior and ecology. Much of this work deals with stochastic models of optimal foraging. I also worked on sex ratios and oviposition strategies in parasitoids and on life history strategies (r- and K-selection). Recently, I have been thinking about the periodic invasions of Northern Goshawks using numbers, age distribution and sex ratios, especially of birds observed at Hawk Ridge, in Duluth, Minnesota.
