Former Congressman Erik Paulsen will appear at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs in conversation with MPR editor-at-large Gary Eichten to discuss his experiences in Washington. What are the lessons he has learned through his public service? Where does he want to go next? And what are the fears- and hopes- he has for the country’s future?
Erik Paulsen represented Minnesota’s third congressional district from 2008 through 2018. Mr. Paulsen served on the influential Ways and Means Committee in the U.S. House, sitting on the Health and Trade subcommittees. Prior to his career in Congress, Mr. Paulsen served in the Minnesota legislature, having first been elected in 1994. He was the Majority Leader in the Minnesota House from 2003 until 2007.
Gary Eichten is Editor-at-Large at MPR News. His career with Minnesota Public Radio spanned more than 40 years and included hosting Midday, special events producer, station manager, and news director. He was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame in 2007.
